"We are wishful kites wandering the open skies
Eagerly anticipating our dreams to realize
We are a multitude of beacons clad as fireflies
Illuminating hope, yearning despairs demise"........by Sohel Ahmed

Midnight is approaching. The pungent smell of medicine again reminds me that I am in a hospital. I look up. My head has drooped on my chest in exhaustion; from morning to afternoon I was on the move in search of a rare medicine and finally found it in a small medicine corner in Old Dhaka. The expiry date sealed on the bottle was only a month from then. I hesitated. But there was no option.

[justify]It was august 29th and we had a trip offered by Boro Mama to Whistler together with Baba and my two cousins, Zahur and Sameen. Unfortunately my mom couldn’t manage to join us because she had to go to work; but she made some sandwitches for our lunch.

Barack Obama the poster boy for liberals who rode on his message of change that appealed to voters of US and mass people around the world is facing lukewarm response in the upcoming election of US. His presidency of last four years have failed to keep the same momentum that drove masses of people out of their couch to vote for the first black president of US, with a middle name Hussain.

We often blame the politics and political leaders for all the mishaps of our country. The solution (and hope), according to the majority, is to think about a utopia where most of the politicians, if not all, will be honest in one fine morning, and we will take it from there!

It was 2009, and the decision was made. I had to leave my family and friends. I had to leave the campus that I had been dreaming about being a part of. I had to leave the highest educational institution in the country in order to go to a just one year old institution. I had to leave the place and environment I know like my palm to place I had never been to.

Thus spake Yajnavalkya

Achieving development both in individual and collective level is a prime issue of discussion with a historic expansion. Throughout the life significant portion is lost finding the answer how to live and live nicely. We can remember the proverbial conversation between famous Vedic saint Yajnavalkya and his wife Maitreyee. Maitreyee asked whether it is possible to achieve ‘immortality through gaining the whole earth full of wealth’. ‘No’ responds Yajnavalkya, ‘like the life of rich people will be your life. But there is no hope of immortality by wealth.’ Maitreyee remarks, ‘What should I do with that by which I do not become immortal?’ This mythical question remains still making its face towards us even today. Hence proceeds the humanity towards the capability to live really long and to have a good life while alive- rather than being immortal like Maiteyee.
